This year won’t be as packed with concerts as last year. Nevertheless, it will be unique as Depeche Mode will be on tour. I doubt that it will be their last tour, but who knows.
The first event wasn’t a concert but a spoken word evening with Henry Rollins.
Henry Rollins – Berlin
His tour scheduled for 2022 got canceled at short notice. Therefore, I was thrilled that he rescheduled the German dates for his 2023 tour.
Henry Rollins is an exceptional character on stage. He shares much of his personal life with the audience, and his way of telling stories is unique-. I cannot find any other word to describe it. Henry talked for over 2.5 hours in one straight talk, without a single break. I know how exhausting this must be. I pay my honest respect for this performance.
If you ever can see him live, simply do it.
Death Cab For Cutie – London
“Music for sad people “is the tagline for a Death Cab For Cutie concert. The band caught the audience from the very beginning. It was a very intimate and emotional evening at the Roundhouse. There is nothing more to say.

Fischer-Z (Solo) – Berlin
I have seen Fischer-Z multiple times, which was very special every time. This time, it was a different setup. Not only was the Quasimodo venue a relatively small venue and a late start at 22:30, but John Watts was on his solo tour. He played his favorite Fischer-Z songs in a guitar-only setup.

The Mission – Berlin
The band is one of the cornerstones for getting through the year. Wayne Hussey and his band members were in a good mood for playing at the relatively small venue of Columbia Theater. After the pandemic, I remained in front of the stage for the first time. It will take additional concerts at larger venues to get fully accustomed to this again.

Depeche Mode – Leipzig
Finally, a Depeche Mode concert again. It was not the best show regarding the location. Getting to the venue and back was a mess. Leipzig is not prepared for such significant events. Nevertheless, the sound was good. And it felt so heartwarming to see the band playing with such playfulness.
Depeche Mode – Dusseldorf
The two gigs in Dusseldorf added to the overall heartwarming feeling that grew in Leipzig. In comparison, the band had terrible tours in the past where Dave Gahan was only playing his role as the front singer of Depeche Mode. This tour is entirely different. The audience is with them from the very first tune.

Depeche Mode – Munich
I visited a concert at the Munich Olympic Stadium for the first time. The atmosphere was fantastic. Even the rolling thunderstorm added to the overall positive experience. The only caveat was the one to two-second delay of the video displays in the back of the vast standing area.
But was this a reason for enjoying a Depeche Mode live concert? Certainly not.
Peter Gabriel – Manchester
The i/o Tour is unique. As every tour of Peter Gabriel is. I won’t share too many details, as you experience this alone. There was no supporting act. Instead, Peter started playing music and gathered all the musicians around an ancient fire pit. The evolving music and the whole concert gave me shivers.

Besides the concert, Manchester is always worth a visit. I love the various vinyl shops in town. I cannot visit Manchester without buying a few records. See you next time.
Depeche Mode – Frankfurt
The following two Depeche Mode concerts took place in Frankfurt. And again, I enjoyed every single moment. I soaked up the music and the emotions like a sponge. After the tour, I will draw from the credit of the feelings of the music.
The venue was almost perfect. The sound, the visuals, the audience around us. It was like having a party with good old friends.
Holly Johnson – London
On the eve of The Mission’s concert at the Roundhouse, Holly Johnson performs at the Palladium. I was lucky enough to get one of the last tickets. Hearing the Frankie Goes To Hollywood songs live for the first time was an extraordinary moment, an extraordinary journey through time. I had goosebumps several times.
It was my first visit to the Palladium. What a great venue is that, please? London has a variety of unique cultural venues. It was worth the slightly hectic journey.
The Mission – London
It was simply a must. I had to go to the final concert of the Deja Vu Tour at the Roundhouse. The sold-out concert was fantastic. The mood in the audience was incredible. And The Mission really wanted to play.
Yes, it may sound strange, but it was, again, a brilliant concert.

See you next time.
Anne Clark
Finally, Anne Clark.
I can’t even describe my feelings when Anne Clark took to the stage at Huxley’s. It was a mixture of happiness and satisfaction. Her songs got me through my youth. Then, as now, there was the right song for every emotion. The concert is intensely etched in my memory.
Experiencing Huxley’s seated was special.
